It depends on where in Alberta you want to go that will decide if chances for snow and cold are high in April. I live in Morinville, Alberta which is just north of Edmonton. I keep a daily diary and living here I can say that in my part of Alberta the chance for snow and cold weather is very high. We get more storms in March and April than January and February. The difference is the cold doesn’t stay for long and the snow melts quickly. Now if you want to go South towards, Calgary, Lethbridge or Medicine Hat you will find it to be “balmy”. They have much nicer spring and summers than we do.
