What is the CGFNS Certification Program?
The program is designed for first-level general, or registered, nurses who have been educated in another country and wish to work as professional nurses in the United States. There are three parts of the certification program: a credentials review, the CGFNS Qualifying Exam, and an English language proficiency exam. Most Boards of Nursing require foreign nurses to complete the certification program and the credentials evaluation. In addition, the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) requires all healthcare professionals who seek permanent occupational visas to obtain VisaScreen certificates.
The CGFNS Certification Program is a three-part program designed to predict an applicant’s likelihood of passing the NCLEX-RN examination and becoming licensed as a registered nurse in the United States. The three parts of the program include: 1. Credentials Review 2. Qualifying Examination of nursing knowledge 3. English Language Proficiency Examination Applicants must successfully satisfy all above three parts of the Certification Program in order to earn the CGFNS certification.
