The Central Registry is set up by the Central government under s. 20 of the Act. Clause (1) provides that the Central Govt. may, by notification, set up or cause to be set up a registry to be known as the Central Registry with its own seal for the purpose of registration of a transaction of securitisation and reconstruction of financial assets and creation of security interest under the Act. The Central Registrar is a person appointed by the Central government, by notification, for the purpose of registration of transactions relating to securitisation, reconstruction of financial assets and security interest created over properties.
