What is the census process generally?
Census goes out and verifies addresses so that everyone will get a form in the mail. Then a form is mailed out to every home. Once all forms are put in the mail and collected by US Census Bureau, the census team will go to the residencies that did not mail in their information. After everything is collected and counted, the State will get a count of how many people are currently in MA. That number will determine how much funding the State will receive for the various programs described above as well as how many US Representatives we are entitled to. • Right now- Census representatives are on the field verifying addresses. They should present ID if asked and are suppose to notify local Police. • February-March, 2010- Census mailing • April-July- Door to Door visits to those who didnt mail in their form. • December 2010- Deadline for census data to be completely tabulated and reported to Congress. • March 2011- Complete census information provided to each State.
