What is the Census information used for?
Public sector organisations such as the Governement, Council, Health Service and Police use the statistics to plan and fund services. Central Governement use the information to determine the amount of money they give to the council, local health service and Police. Businesses use the Census to help plan new services, and new locations for supermarkets, restaurants, etc. Many academics and students use Census data as part of their research and in their studies. Many people use the Census data to help tracing their family histories by accessing the data that is over 100 years old.
