What is the celebration of solstice?
First of all, your friend might be a bit misinformed. Vampires, for one, do not exist. There are however those who choose to live a “vampire lifestyle” which tends to include dressing in gothic fashion and drinking blood from willing donors. It is not a religion, and does not celebrate specific holidays. As for Witches, we do celebrate the solstices, and what occurs during these celebrations depends on which solstice. The Winter Solstice is a time to mourn the passing of the summer, and to look forward to the coming of the spring. It is the dark time of the year when the world is cold and harsh, and so we try to remember the warmth and he sun. Symbolically it is when the Horned God passes on. The Summer Solstice is a sun celebration, welcoming the warmth, and the harvest to come. It is a time of life, and fertility and light. At solstice celebrations you can expect anything from formal circle rituals to simply cook-outs and friendly gatherings. Depending on the tradition of the witches

She evidently knows nothing at all about any of the celebrations that might take place at the solstices, the reasons for those celebrations, or the religious paths that underpin those celebrations. Remember that most of the public celebrations such as the crowds that go to Stonehenge are just there for a good time. Witches might not have a religious path, as witchcraft is practice not a faith, and can be carried out by people of faith and no faith. Many neo-pagans are witches, not all of them Wiccans (which is an initatory Mystery Tradition). Vampires, as other have said, aren’t real, and the gothy vampire wannabees wouldn’t know the meaning of the solstices if it hit them in the face – in my experience – plus of course they are too busy playing at being vampires which means they shouldn’t be out in the sun, therefore no summer solstice for sure!! We wouldn’t want
