What is the Catalogue of Priority Industries for Foreign Investment in Central-Western Regions?
Much of China’s development has been concentrated on its eastern coastal area. The Catalogue of Priority Industries for Foreign Investment in Central-Western Regions (the “Central-Western Region Catalogue”) is similar to the Catalogue previously discussed, however, relates to investments in the provinces of Shanxi, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and Guangxi. The Central-Western Region Catalogue seeks to encourage foreign investment and development in the areas mentioned previously and it is becoming increasingly popular for foreign investors to make investments into these areas in order to take advantage of lower labor costs, along with conditions provided by local/central governments.
