What is the capital of china?

The capital of China is Beijing – if you see a reference to Beiping or Peking (as in Peking Duck) they are talking about the same place – the latter 2 being previous names. If you go back into history China has had a number of other capitals including Nanjing formerly known as Nanking, Xian, Kaifeng etc and you will find they have also been under other names. Each of China’s Provinces also has a capital city, such as Shijiazhuang (where I am) is the capital of Hebei Province, but I won’t bore you with any others. Suffice it to say that when they are talking about capitals in China, you have to be careful!
