In response to the needs of parents seeking help to work with school staff and administration to ensure their children’s medical needs are addressed while attending school, the Association has developed proposed legislation called the Individual medical Care Plan for Students with a Life Threatening Illness. The Canadian Diabetes Association is calling on Provincial and Territorial governments to enact legislation that would require all publicly funded schools to accommodate and protect students with diabetes, severe allergies, epilepsy or asthma while attending classes or any school activity.
