All candidates in the Preliminary Multiple Subject and Preliminary Single Subject Teaching Credential program will complete four Teaching Performance Assessments (TPA). Background of the assessment requirement is the following: • Senate Bill 1209 requires CTC-accredited programs of teacher education to administer performance assessments to all Single Subject and Multiple Subject candidates. • The purpose of this testing is to ensure that beginning teachers enter the profession with the skills to be effective in the classroom. • The CalTPA is an CTC-approved testing program that consists of four performance assessments (tasks). • CSU East Bay Department of Teacher Education is implementing the CalTPA Program in compliance with the SB 1209 and the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).
