What is the Calgary Stampede?
The Calgary Stampede, also known as the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, is an annual event that begins on the first Friday of each July. It was created in 1912 by Guy Weadick who was a working cowboy that traveled the world performing in the famous wild west shows during the early 1900s. By 1924, Calgary saw it’s first annual Calgary Stampede. It was adapted from Guy Weadick’s vision of the authentic old west culture. The first Calgary Stampedes consisted mainly of chuckwagon races and rodeos. Even though these events are still part of the venue, many additional features have been added. The Calgary Stampede has expanded to include such events as a parade, music, rides and games, a grandstand show, an animals and agriculture barn along with the rodeo and rangeland derby. document.getElementById(‘adsense_placeholder_2’).innerHTML = document.getElementById(‘adsense_ad_2_hidden’).innerHTML; Where is the Calgary Stampede?
