What is the Cairn Terrier’s history?
The Cairn was originally a working dog, bred in the Scottish Highlands to chase vermin out of the rock piles, called cairns, on farmland. The breed is well over 200 years old and follows the Scottish Terrier and the West Highland White as breeds to be named. Overall, the Cairn Terrier is an active, energetic dog used to working and playing, often digging and chasing small animals.
