What is the BYU Choral Academy?
The BYU Choral Academy is an intensive four-day course designed for professional conductors and teachers—public school choral teachers, church and community choir conductors, and anyone interested in the choral art. We welcome beginning to advanced conductors who wish to develop their conducting skills. Through their years of combined experience of rehearsal and performance, instructors Ronald Staheli and Rosalind Hall have gained a reputation for performances which are polished, engaging, and spiritually compelling. They have distilled and systematized the essence of their success and share the principles which have built and strengthened BYU’s renowned choral tradition in the Choral Academy. Included in instruction will be the conductor’s gesture, rehearsal techniques, score analysis, preparation for effective and efficient rehearsals, warm-ups, and others. This is the fifth year of the Choral Academy at Brigham Young University.
