What is the Business Excellence Model ?
When the EFQM Excellence Model was introduced in 1991, it was called the Business Excellence Model because it was primarily developed for commercial companies. This was a very appropriate name. It implied that businesses needed to set their sights well beyond contractual compliance if they were to approach world class performance. In recent years, many governments and other not-for-profit organisations have implemented the model successfully. Therefore the word “Business” was dropped from the name to reflect its universal application.
