What is the Buddhist view on abortion?

0

Buddhists view abortion to be an unskillful means toward achieving happiness. A pregnancy is thought to be a product of karma insofar as there is a person who is ready to be incarnated, who has a karmic connection with his or her parents-to-be. Abortion prevents that karma from coming to fruition and being resolved. In this sense it doesn’t matter if abortion is “killing”, or a “sin” or a “choice”. It is simply a result of a confused mind that doesn’t understand yet what will bring lasting happiness.
