What is the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program?
Pennsylvania’s Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program provides a qualified woman with full healthcare benefits at no cost or a nominal co-payment for some services. This is a coordinated effort between the Department of Public Welfare and the Department of Health. • The Department of Public Welfare’s Medical Assistance Program provides full healthcare coverage, including treatment for breast or cervical cancer, or pre-cancerous conditions of the breast or cervix, even if your need is unrelated to your cancer or pre-cancerous condition. • The Department of Health’s HealthyWoman Project provides services at no cost to women of low or moderate income, with limited or no health coverage, including: • mammograms, • clinical breast exams, • pelvic exams, and • pap tests. Applications for the Breast and Cervical Cancer Prevention and Treatment Program are processed through the HealthyWoman Project. More information can be found in the Fee-for-Service Consumer Handbook.
