What is the Botox Clinic?
Most people have heard about Botox being used to treat wrinkles. Botox was first used in the 1970’s to treat strabismus (lazy eye) in children. The strong muscle would be injected with Botox, in order to weaken it. It would thereby match the weak muscle, and correct the eye. Over the past thirty years, Botox has been proven to be safe and has found many uses. At our Botox clinic, we treat the various forms of dystonia (such as spasmodic torticollis, blepharospasm, and hemifacial spasm). We also use Botox to treat the spasticity (stiffness) that occurs after stroke, brain injury or spinal cord injury. Most treatments take about fifteen minutes. The smallest possible needles are used, making it an almost painless procedure. Treatments usually last three to four months. These procedures are covered by most insurance plans.
