What is the Board of Zoning Adjustment? When and where does the Board meet?
The Prattville Board of Zoning Adjustment is established under §11-52-80 of the Code of Alabama, 1975, as amended. The Board’s five members are appointed to staggered 3-year terms by the Prattville City Council. The Board’s seats two alternates that may serve in place of a regular member. The Board hears appeals in matters related to enforcement of the Prattville Zoning Ordinance. The Board hears and decides 1) appeals where an applicant contents there is an error in a zoning decision rendered by the Prattville Planning Department, 2) requests for uses-on-appeal in certain zoning districts, and 3) where justified by a hardship requests for variances from the rules and standards in the Prattville Zoning Ordinance. The Prattville Board of Zoning Adjustment meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm in Prattville City Hall at 101 West Main Street.
