What is the “black” wood stain color called?

Many brands of stain (including minwax, which I use) have a black or “ebony” grade which will maintain the appearance of grain while making the wood as dark as can be. It’s a nice look and goes well with a 1930s Metropolitan / deco look as well as more contemporary pieces.
