What is the BioTrust project?
The BioTrust is a way to make dried blood spots more useful for research by storing them under conditions that better preserve the leftover samples, and in a way they can be more easily retrieved for specific studies. The BioTrust will also actively promote use of leftover DBS for important medical and public health research studies. Taken as a whole, the Michigan BioTrust for Health is an initiative that encompasses educational outreach and community engagement, policy development, DBS storage, and data linkages to create a resource for future research that will benefit the public’s health.
