What is the biggest problem volunteers face?
Unrealistic expectations can really create big problems for volunteers. Going in with the perspective that you are going to “save the world” will inevitably lead to disappointment and will likely cause an imbalance in your relationship with colleagues. Hopefully you will make a worthwhile contribution in your work placement and elsewhere, but this is a learning experience for you too. You won’t have all the answers or be the font of all knowledge. It’s great to go with a positive attitude that you can make a difference but don’t get carried away.
