What is the biggest problem that students have with online courses at MFC?
There are two. The first is a slow start. Tommy Tortoise thinks he has all semester to get going with his online class. This is not so. The pace of an online course is comparable to a seated class; if you miss the first three weeks of a seated class, you know you’ll be in trouble. It’s the same with an online class. The second is a slow finish. Harriet Hare does some coursework at the beginning of the semester, and then stops. She assumes that she can receive an “Incomplete” grade if she does not finish an online course during the specified time. This is not so. Incomplete grades are rarely given out at MFC. Students will receive a grade commensurate to the amount of work completed when the course ends. For students like Harriet, this is usually an “F”.
