What is the biggest difference between the soccer culture in Portugal and the soccer culture in Canada?

Portugal and soccer is like hockey and Canada. Canada can’t live without hockey and Portugal can’t live without soccer. In Portugal, soccer is what everyone talks about and lives for, but soccer is growing a lot in Canada. People are taking interest in professional soccer. Look at Toronto FC. They have the best fans in the MLS. The Toronto FC stadium is full every week. I don’t think that there are any current MLS teams that can compete with the Toronto FC fans, so there is a definite growth. Look at the Whitecaps; they just won the USL in front of a sold out crowd. Vancouver also seems to have a great interest for more soccer, and hopefully they will be able to bring in more soccer culture by joining the MLS. A big difference between Canada and Portugal is that there is always soccer on TV everywhere you go in Portugal. You may decide to go out for dinner, wanting a quiet evening and what’s in the restaurant – a TV with the soccer game. There is no escaping the games during the soccer
