What is the bigger sporting season in australia-summer or winter?

0

I live in Melbourne but have lived quite some years in various other states as well. Most people in most states prefer their winter footy seasons, whether they follow AFL or one of the rugby codes or soccer. All the football games are winter sports, and are the most passionately followed. In summer, you only have cricket, which many people find ‘boring’. But you do manage just a few weeks of tennis in summer as well – in preparation for the big Australian Open, but it is not enough to equal the winter passion, and the season, as a spectator, is not near long enough. Club players also enjoy their tennis in summer, but it does not carry a team fever about it like the footy.
