What is the bigger obstacle in Game 1, the Cavs rust or the Hawks fatigue?
The Cavs haven’t played a game since last Sunday, and they haven’t played a tough game since, well, the game in Orlando on April 3rd. The Cavs executed at a very high level on both ends throughout the first round series with the Pistons, but you can expect the team to be a little rough early on in Game 1. No matter how dedicated the Cavaliers have been in practice over the last week, there’s no way that you can practice the intensity level of the NBA Playoffs in an isolated location in Independence. Conversely, the Hawks just worked through a seven-game series, and will be flying to Cleveland less than 24 hours after the end of Game 7. While the Cavs have been resting, the Hawks have been playing at a supposedly high intensity level – even though evidence of that fact was rare in that series.
