What is the better sub. Diesel or nuclear?
Well, waddaya know! Something I know a little bit about! Nuclear subs have it over diesel subs by far. Nuclear subs are NOT limited by the need for frequent refuelings, the need to surface or snorkel to recharge batteries, nor is their speed limited when submerged. Nuclear subs require no support ships or facilities when on extended deployments, and their capabilities allow them to take on not only tactical roles, but strategic roles as well. In fact, the deployment time of a nuclear submarine is limited ONLY by the amount of food carried on board. They make all their own water, all their own oxygen, and all the power necessary to stay submerged for months on end.
