If you just want to listen to music, I would recommend: http://free.napster.com – Offers free, full songs to US Residents, but with a limited number of listens per song, and very low quality http://www.deezer.com – Free songs, higher quality than Napster free. The Catch – not a very large library of music For downloads, I would first check to see if the artist you’re looking for has their own download store. Often, the prices here will be cheaper than through a third party seller, if not, you’re basically stuck with using http://www.itunes.com due to its market dominance. Also, a neat little trick, if you’re just curious as to what a song sounds like, you can head over to http://www.youtube.com and see if its used in any videos as a soundtrack to get an idea of its sound.
