What is the best way to teach multiplication tables to children?
It depends on their age, as to the best method. Preeteens learn mostly by pure absorbtion and require little or no understanding, you just need to make it fun and possibly involve an incentive if you must (your love and praise should be sufficient with a well adjusted child). An abbacus is an excellent way start because the child can actually see the accumulation of beads, which is not present when you use abstract numbers on paper. The more patterns and relationships you can demonstrate, the better. A children love being good at things because it attracts positive attention. If you can give them an advantage over other children then they will excel with it.
