What is the best way to take care of my car tyres?
Make sure you keep your tyres at the right pressure as this helps them last longer. Check the pressure (when tyres are cold) every fortnight and before long journeys. Correct pressure can be found in your handbook. Low pressure leads to increased fuel consumption and causes excessive wear. Over-inflation causes unpredictable handling and means the centre tread will wear more quickly. How you drive also affects tyre life. Balance and control are key. Avoid harsh braking, rapid acceleration and fast cornering. Check your tyres weekly for excessive wear, cuts or bulges. Seek expert help if you see any such signs. Replace them when the tread depth wears to around 2mm. You can find out more about looking after your car tyres in our car tyre guide.
