What is the best way to take a picture of the moon?”

Photographing the Moon is not dificult but results depend on the equipment you have. I’ve taken nice photos of a full moon using a Canon 300D (the original Digital Rebel model from 2003) and a couple of nice lens (Canon 100-400mm and Extender 2x). Because this camera has a 1.6 crop factor, that means my lens size was similar to a 1280mm lens (400x2x1.6). This focal length gives a really nice size moon 🙂 Smaller lens will give you a smaller moon on your frame. Back to “how”: use manual focus, and make sure you focus on infinity. Also, depending on how big is the moon and how high in the sky (because its “color” will change), you may have to adjust your camera to underexpose the photo. For a full moon, definetely underexpose it, or the camera will adjust for a too dark scene and you will end up loosing a lot of detail on the moon surface. Last but not least, you need a tripod. You need a t-r-i-p-o-d! Period! If you are using a long focal lenght like 1280mm and shooting something as far
