What is the best way to store my wig when I’m not wearing it?
Opinions vary on this subject. Some swear by using a Styrofoam head form, while others claim that storing the wig this way will stretch it out. Others swear by using a folding plastic or wire wig stand, as this allows for air circulation while preserving the shape of the wig. Still others use large soup cans. One of our best customers has so many wigs that she inserted little hooks into the walls of her closets and just hangs the wigs on them. We can tell you how NOT to store a wig. Never, ever just leave it in the box it came in with the net pulled over it! Over time, it will literally take on the shape of the box. We once purchased some closeout wigs that had been stored in their original wig boxes for years. They were actually rectangular when we took them out. I kid you not! If your wig arrives turned inside out, it has been packaged this way for a reason – to preserve its style. A lot of wigs that have “flipped out” layers are packaged this way.
