What is the best way to send Photos over the internet?
Depending upon your camera and what you take pictures for, your image file for each photo can be small or very large. High Quality is the norm if you wish to print your photos especially if you are looking to make large size prints. For Internet viewing or sending to friends, a much lower resolution will look just as good and not have your visitors waiting for hours whilst each photo downloads. There is very little point in having a photo larger than 600×400 pixels for Browser viewing, over this size requires scrolling off the page to see it all and then you have lost the overall effect of the composition. Photos of this size should end up with a file size of less than 100k, down from originals of up to 1MB. At SeaWebs we suggest not sending any email that is larger than 400k including attachments, this way you would send a group of photos totaling around 1600k (1.5MB) as 4 separate emails.
