What is the best way to remove wallpaper without damaging wood baseboards and other trim?

The idea when spritzing the walls with liquid is to go easy–you’re not washing a car. Try to keep drips to a minimum and wipe any ASAP if they get on the trim. As an additional precaution I’d mask all horizontal trim with painters tape. You still have to be cautious spraying the walls but at least the tape won’t harm any finish on your trim (as standard masking tape can) and will give you an extra margin of protection. I just found a new type of painter’s tape that might be particularly good for this use but I haven’t tried it yet. It’s called Frog Tape and the edges are treated so that they block moisture intrusion better than standard painter’s tape, according to the manufacturer. I bought my roll at Home Depot. Manufacturer ref is below. I would also experiment with stripping an area that’s less visible than others–that will give you a chance to practice your technique and also to see how your trim fares.
