What is the best way to remove old wallpaper?
You are supposed to use the paper tiger to poke small holes in the wallpaper, and then spread the glue disolver on the wallpaper and let it seep into the wholes. It never works as easy as it should. The wallpaper usually comes off in layers. The top layer is usually the thickest, and I end up pulling this off quickly, and then reapplying the glue disolver. The glue between the layers got disolved before the glue between the wall and the wallpaper’s bottom layer. After the top layer is removed and more glue disolver is spread, I keep it wet, and find a loose corner. I peel it away slowly, keeping it wet to help prevent re-adhesion if it dries. It is a long, tiring process that takes patience. The glue can be strong. If you pull before the glue is disolved, you can pull the drywall paper off of the drywall. I keep the layers soaked in disolver to prevent this. Don’t forget to wipe off as much of the glue and disolver as possible after the wallpaper is gone, and prime the area very well b
Hi, Go to one of those stores where they rent things out to you and ask them for a steamer for removing old wallpaper. you steam a section then take a scrapper or large putty knife and start lifting it. It takes some time but does a great job, at the store they will probably give you all the instructions you need. If you plan on painting make sure you wash off every bit of glue on that wall or the paint will not stick.
