What is the best way to remove cat urine from a carpet?

There are a few tried and true methods for this. I had a major problem with a cat urinating on my futon for months and months, so I have tested every single way to get rid of that awful smell and stain! As usual, there are a few ways that work better than others. My first choice would be to dilute a cup of white vinegar with a cup of warm water, put it in a spray bottle and spray the affected area until it is saturated. You will have a vinegar smell there in place of cat pee, but the vinegar can be cleaned up more easily. You can also make a paste with baking soda and warm water and scrub the carpet with that, then wipe clean with a clean cloth. And the last method to try is one of the enzyme cleaners as previously mentioned. The best ones out there are the ones from the pet store that are targeted specifically at cat urine. Soak the affected area and let it air dry. I’ve found the Febreeze pet odor eliminator to be effective after cleaning with vinegar, but not as a stand-alone treatm
