What is the Best Way to Quit a Job?
When one decides to quit a job, there can be several helpful tips. One naturally wants to quit a job on the best note possible. This way, if one requires references from an ex-employer, one is more likely to receive them. How one quits can influence how people feel about them at a later date. Many employment experts advise giving notice to quit a job two to four weeks prior to planning to move to another position. There are a few circumstances that justify one to quit a job without notice. If one’s reason for quitting is ongoing harassment or a fear of physical threat, then quitting without notice is acceptable. Where possible, make sure complaints about these issues have been documented, particularly if one will be job-hunting after quitting. Documentation of harassment, especially if one has copies of complaints, can help smooth the way toward receiving unemployment. Usually, unemployment is only given to people voluntarily quitting if they can show a substantial reason for quitting.
If you like your boss and believe hes a good person, you should be completely honest, ask him the same question you are asking in here. If you didn’t like his response just tell him that you have been thinking about the subject for a while and that you think its better for you to quit unless he convince you not to. be honest and professional in order for a good recommendation and at least a good connection (your boss). you never know when you will need him or he needs someone and believe me you will be flattered if he called you.
Once you get paid, you go to your boss and tell him, sorry I cannot give you two weeks notice, this job is too much for me, I cant sleep at night Im so stressed out and I have to quit right now to get my health back in shape or soemthing like that. Your boss knows what goes out at work but probably not able to change it. No matter what he says, at least he knows to find someone else, by not quitting it hangs them up longer until they realise your not coming back. People quit jobs all the time, you wont hurt thier feelings, they wont take it personally, managers deal with hirings, firings and quitting. So its nothing to fear. If you cant stomach telling them you quit, drop a letter or resignation stating you quit tht the jobs too stressful or whatever you want. Youll find a better job, sorry this one was hard on you hun.
