What is the best way to prepare for the CLT test?
• Register as early as possible. You will receive a copy of the test book, which spells out exactly what you’ll be tested on, problem by problem. • Purchase and STUDY the CLT Training Manual. It is full of valuable information and is a great resource for the challenges you face in your job. • Set up practice problems and do the steps from start to finish within the allotted time. Practice with someone who is knowledgeable and can critique your work. If you have no background in one particular skill, seek an expert in that field. Association members and CLTs are a great resource! • Attend the training seminars and study sessions. This is an opportunity to ask the experts your questions. Those who attend usually do better on the test. • Use your own experience. Most candidates have a number of years of on-the-job experience. While that won’t give you all the answers, it’s a solid start in the right direction.
