When I was getting ready to take the GMAT, I went with Powerscore, on the recommendation of a friend. It was definitely the right move–they offer a weekend class that covers all of the important concepts, and the instructor was amazing. I would recommend that you leave a bit of time between the class and the test, so that you can internalize and apply the concepts and approaches that you learn, and take some practice tests. As far as your score goes, from my experience this is a lot like a language test–you keep practicing and getting more comfortable and familiar with the tested concepts, and your score continues to increase.
