What is the best way to package race car driver for sponsorship?
I am helping a race car driver with his promotional packet for potential sponsors. He is a mature driver, with 40 years experience. He is devoted to the sport and is an incredibly likeable and approachable guy. My instinct is to focus on his maturity—show him as an older guy who is not spending his retirement years sitting down. He races in the NHRA class, which has a huge following and a nation-wide schedule, but operated at a much lower budget than NASCAR- so the target sponsors would be national companies who are looking for a superior value in event driven sponsorship. Do you think the “active retiree” approach has promise? Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.
