What is the best way to heat and light a ribbon snake cage?
it CAN work…but it doesn’t provide any Vitamin D3 which is vital for all reptiles. I would use a fluorescent bulb specifically made for reptiles (purchase at a pet store) strength 2.5 or maybe slightly higher…not 5.0, I would also recommend you get a infared heat bub as well, used with a reptile heat lamp. I think the infared bulbs are like… $10-$12, and the heat lamp is $12-14. All this stuff does add up but one way to re-assure yourself is to remember that the lamp will last practically forever (its recommended that you replace it after 3 years though.) and the bulb while last around 3 months, they can last more but after that 3 month period they start getting dangerous, fire causing and reptile burning…which is NOT good at all! I’m sure you already know this but I’m going to say it anyway just in case, PLEASE be careful with the heat lamp & bulb, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve burned myself…and a reclaimed antique table…grr they can easily catch your house on fire
