What is the best way to get to Middle Bass Island?
There are no bridges, so you need to come by boat, ferry or plane. The Miller Boat Line travels many times a day directly from the mainland to Middle Bass. They are located at the end of Route 53 North, which is off of Route 2. The trip is about 40 minutes long and is very scenic as you pass Put-in-Bay. Reservations for passengers are not required, but they are required for cars and RV’s. They can take anything up to a semi-truck in size. Reservations for vehicles are taken up to two weeks in advance. They often sell out for vehicles on weekends; although there is always plenty of room for walk-on passengers. Call them at 800-500-2421. You can also take the Miller or Jet Express to Put-in-Bay and then the Sonny S. to Middle Bass. Griffing Airways flies from Sandusky to the new airport on Middle Bass every day.
