What is the best way to get rid of ants?
Boric Acid is probably the safest effective control for ants if mixed with food they like. Boric Acid is fairly non-toxic to people and pets and can be bought at a drug store where it’s sold as an antiseptic or at a garden store where it’s sold as ant and cockroach poison. For most ants you can mix a two cups of sugar and two tablespoons of boric acid in a cup of water and place jar or bottle lids of the mixture on counter tops, corners or wherever the little pests are. You can make less at a time but keep the ratios as close as you can. While the stuff is mostly harmless to people and pets you will still want to keep children and pets away. The ants will carry the mixture back to the nest and after a period of time the entire nest will be destroyed. With the types of ants that aren’t attracted to sugar you can mix the boric acid in a bit of meat gravy or mayonnaise.
