What is the best way to exercise my rats and keep them entertained?
Rats are no different to other animals and require both exercise and entertainment to maintain their well being. You could try a wheel in their cage but you have to be careful as if it isn’t a solid floored wheel their tails and feet can easily get caught and break! Not all rats are interested in a wheel. If you handle your rats frequently they enjoy exploring out of the cage although care is needed that doors and/ or holes are covered as they are quick movers and may not be easy to coax back into your arms! If you have the time to spend with your rats do not be surprised if they learn the ability to recognize their name, your voice and your smell. This is very useful if they vanish in your house and you call them! Remember if your rat learns a new trick a treat goes down very well!
