WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO DEAL WITH JAPANESE BEETLES?

“Bug Bags” work very well as a pre-infestation preventative. Since the Beetles are attracted to the lures based on scent, the lures need to be planted downwind of the foliage. With this in mind, be sure to place them 30-50 feet (9 -15m) downwind of your vines. Also; replace the bags when full (after the bag is full leave it in the sun for a day or so to ensure that all trapped beetles are dead). Replace the bags as often as needed, however the actual lure scents (the best bags have 2: a pheromone lure + a floral lure) should last the entire season. Remember, the bags are ineffectiveness against an established infestation. This is why the bags should be placed as early as practical. With an established infestation (if you have a small enough planting), I would recommend manual removal of the existing beetles & the placement of multiple bags, downwind to prevent further infestations. Also; be sure to use Milky Spore Powder, at a rate of 1# (454g) per 4,000 square feet (372 square m) earl
