What is the best way to cook Quorn chicken style fillets?
Hello Believe it or not I place them in a sauce pan with some sauce, or curry paste ( not sure if they are vegetarian though) and keep stiring and add loads of veg ( but you may need to boil the veg first to soften them up), a little like a stir fry really, add coconut milk to the curry paste ( can she have that- i hope so) and stir it all together-add wholemeal rice and plain naan etc- it is quick and easy maybe 15/20 mins and you have made it from scratch, I use quorn as its relatively fat free I am not a vegetarian 🙂
I find that quorn can get a little dry if you are not careful when cooking. My favorite method for cooking these is to make up a little herb ‘butter’ with 2 teaspoons of low fat sunflower spread, a good pinch of garlic or onion powder, 1 teaspoon of dried herbs such as tarragon, thyme or marjoram and a drizzle of lemon juice. Mix the ingredients together and spread over the quorn fillet(s), wrap in foil and bake in the oven at gas mark 5 for about 20 minutes. Or you could try making up a barbecue glaze 1/4 pint tomato ketchup 6 dessert spoons worcestershire sauce the juice of half a lemon 1 tablespoon vegetable oil 2 tablespoons honey or syrup salt to taste. This is great for slathering over the quorn fillets or indeed chicken or ribs while grilling or cook uncovered in a baking dish for a sticky glaze. Or you can cook the quorn/meat in the sauce in a covered dish for a juicier finish. You can even use it as a pan sauce; cut up the quorn and stirfry lightly with some vegetables and add
