What is the best way to cook globe artichokes?

They are great cooked in a steamer but this takes time. My usual recipe is the following. 4 Globe Artichokes 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1/2 teasp salt 300ml water 1.2 teasp butter SAUCE 100 gr butter little salt and freshly ground pepper Trim the tips of the outer artichoke leaves with scissors and wash under cold running water. Combine lemon juice, salt and water in a large dish, add butter. Cook on 700 in the microwave for 3 to 4 mins till boiling. Place artichokes upright in the dish, cover and cook for 15 to 18 mins until the lower leaves can be pulled away from the stem easily. Leave to STAND covered while preparing the sauce. Place the butter salt & pepper in a small serving jug and microwave till melted. I also sometimes add lemon juice to the sauce. Delicious.
