What is the best way to clean a pool table that is dusty and old?
To clean an old dusty pool table, begin by using a hand-held dust vacuum. Don’t run it over the table with any pressure; just lightly go over the table to remove the thick dust. Then, use a pool table brush: Starting at the head-string end of the table (the opposite end of the table that you rack the balls) brush toward the foot-spot end of the table in a straight/vertical and upward motion; not like you’re scrubbing a floor. Don’t be afraid to apply pressure. If your table is REALLY dusty, you will have to clean out the brush several times between sweeps. It’s okay to work the brush in a horizontal direction ONLY under the top and bottom rails. Otherwise sweep in a vertical direction (from foot to head), brushing forward and up off the table. This is to save the cloth and to go with the “nap” of the fabric. Once you have the thickest and loose dust removed, clean the frame and pockets with a damp cloth.
