Actually, scratched CDs and DVDs CAN be “refurbished” now. I work in the videogame field and we retrieve scratched games and send them to a facility that can eliminate the scratches and send them back to the consumers as good as new. I don’t know if you have that service where you live. You might want to call a local PlayStation repair shop or the Sony Customer Care number in your area to see if that option is available where you live.

I went ask.com and found a video that had showed a very badly scratched movie. They said to put toothpaste on it,rub it in until you can bearly see it,then rinse it off with water and finally-This is the part that I thought was odd-put on car polish. It seemed like that would just completly ruin the disc but he showed me on the video that it really worked.

I assume you mean the CD. Once scratched the scratch can not be removed. Ideally you should clean all CDs with a clean cloth With air – lots and lots of air – no water, no cleaning solutions, no cleansers, no alcohol, no water just air. We use my old t-shirts cut into neat squares. we wipe the CD’s much like we do with my LPs – from the inside out. The only thing that gets on cds around here is dust and the occasional cat hair. Secondly the care and handling of a CD is much like a LP – NEVER hold the disk in such a manner to where your fingers are on the field where the data is (for LPS on the lines which are the grooves the needle sits in). Always hold by the sides or by the middle near the hole. Third, ALWAYS return your cd or lp back to its holder/case after use.
