What is the best way to choose an OB/Gyn to handle my care?
First you should talk to friends and family who have dealt with an OB/Gyn in your area and focus on doctors with whom they have had a good experience. It is important to choose someone you can communicate with, but you also want to make sure your physician is qualified. Calling the state medical society can confirm credentials such as board certification (don’t assume your doctor is board-certified; this is additional certification beyond a medical degree). Another good way is once you have narrowed it down to two or three possible doctors, actually make appointments to meet with them and discuss with them your plans for pregnancy.
