What is the best way to care for sterling and plated silver?
Sterling silver will naturally tarnish over time. Slow down this process by storing your silver in an air-tight container, such as the original packaging box, with anti-tarnish paper. For your convenience your package will include a small piece of anti-tarnish paper so please dont throw it away by mistake! Polish your sterling silver occasionally with a jewelry polishing cloth to restore its shine. Plated silver is a base metal, such as brass. A process called electrolysis applies a thin layer of silver coating. This layer is subject to tarnish, just like with sterling silver, and can be protected by storing in an air-tight container with anti-tarnish paper. However, plated silver should not be polished because the thin silver layer can be wiped away over time.
